We love writing!

It is so exciting becoming writers.

Today in Room 14 we had some free writing time.

It was fun to write about anything we wanted to and write anywhere we wanted to.

Robyn was so happy to see that we were using all the ideas we had been learning independently - that means by ourselves.

We remembered to put finger spaces between our words.

We remembered to use our word cards to help us find letter sounds and words.

We remembered to match our writing with our pictures.

We remembered to read our writing back to check that it made sense.

We remembered to put full stops at the end of our sentences.

Look at some of our amazing finished writing.

Some of us even played being writing teachers in our choosing time this afternoon.

Well done Room 14.  I am so proud of your writing.
I can't wait to see what you do in your writing next week!!!

ANZAC Discovery Day

Today we had a Discovery Day learning about Anzac Day.

We read several stories and watched videos.

We talked about the things we already knew about Anzac Day.

Then we made some things.

We did some Anzac poppy paintings.

We made our own felt poppy brooches to wear.
We had to order the size of the circles from biggest to smallest.

We made some New Zealand flags and waved them in our own parade.

We also made some of our own medals.  We are waiting them to dry before we wear them.

After morning tea we made some ANZAC biscuits.

We followed the recipe and all had turns at adding ingredients, stirring, mixing,  rolling and flattening our biscuits.

Look at how yummy our cookies turned out.
We even designed our own packaging for our cookies.

Maybe we could make some at home over the ANZAC weekend.
