Letter 'P' Dress Up Day

Today we all dressed up in things beginning with the letter 'P'.

This was to raise money for people affected by cyclone Pam.

We enjoyed dressing up and thinking of things that start with the letter 'P'

We had a Project Manager.

 We had 3 fierce pirates.

 We had 2 princesses.

We had 3 people wearing pyjamas.
We even had a paleontologist.

Watch out paleontologist - there is a pirate after you!!!!!!

Here is all of Room 14 with purple Julie and pirate Annette.
And here are all the Rainbow Team Teachers - can you guess what they all are?
Remember it has to start with 'P'.

Please come in to Room 14 and read our stories and see our pictures about 'P' day.

Being the big kids

In Room 14 we love our big Year 7 and 8 buddies coming to work with us.

We also love the opportunity to be the big kids and help out new students in our class.

We have regular visits from local kindergartens and pre schools and it is a great opportunity for us to be the big kids and show our friends what school is like and how much fun it is.

Today the Oxford Street Community Kindy came to visit.

We enjoyed teaching them some of the dice games that we play at school.

We hope to see some of these new friends at Tawa School one day.

Visiting the Life Education Van

Over the past couple of weeks we have visited the Life Education Van.

We loved meeting Bec and Harold and learning about empathy and understanding.

We also learnt that we are all VIP's (that means VERY IMPORTANT PEOPLE).

We learnt how to look after our friends and what makes us the same and different.

We enjoyed finding out a little bit about how our bodies work and how to look after our bodies.

We are excited about meeting Harold again next year!

VIP That's me!
VIP That's you too!

VIP That's us in Room 14!

Giraffe Art

After visiting Harold in the Life Education van we decided to draw some giraffes.

We used guided drawing and followed a step by step process to draw our giraffes.

Then we dyed our giraffes using only yellow and brown dye.
We had to be so careful not to mix the colours and to dye carefully within the lines.

Our next step was to add the background using blue and green dye for the grass and the sky.

When everything was dry we added our speech bubbles about being V.I.Ps.
That means VERY IMPORTANT PEOPLE!

We are so proud of our finished giraffe pictures.

Please pop in and see all our gorgeous giraffe art hanging on our classroom walls and remember to check out our poem books tomorrow for our V.I.P poems.
