Our trip to the police museum

We had a wonderful trip to the police museum in Porirua today.

It started out with a trip on the bus which was an adventure in itself.

Then we went into the museum and found out a lot of interesting information about the New Zealand police and what they do.

We were all amazing listeners.

About that time we met some rather interesting looking police officers.

I wonder if you recognise any of them?

We then had a look around the museum.

We found interesting things like crashed cars and police motorbikes.

Later on a real police officer came to talk to us.

He showed us all the things he carries on his belt.

He let us have a turn with his walkie talkie and with his handcuffs.

Afterwards we got to meet a police dog and even a police puppy.

We were really lucky to pat the puppy.  Not many people get to do that.

After our great trip to the museum we had a picnic lunch and a play at Aotea lagoon.
All of the teachers and parents were so proud of how nicely we played together and helped each other.

It was a really fun day.
We might be a bit tired however.

Perhaps we could wear our pyjamas to school tomorrow!

Being police officers

Before visiting the police museum tomorrow we learnt a little bit about being police officers.

To get ready we had to do several things -

* We made police hats
* We made police badges
* We made stop and go signs to help direct the traffic
* We had a go at taking finger prints

Here are some of us doing those things -

After morning tea, a strange thing happened.

Wiggles our class dog disappeared.  We know that police officers help missing people, so we decided to use our detective skills and look for clues.

We put all the clues we had found together and solved the mystery.
Wiggles is safe thanks to our great detective skills.

We have really enjoyed learning about emergency services and the people who help us.
We decided to see what job we would like to do when we grew up.
We made a graph of whether we wanted to be a fire fighter, an ambulance officer or a police officer when we grew up.
Have a look at what we found out.

I think we will be very safe in the future!

We also had fun making a snack for lunch.

We made traffic light biscuits to help us remember our road safety.
They were fun to make and tasted delicious too.

What a fun day!
We are super excited about our visit to the police museum tomorrow too.
