How we learn handwriting

We are doing our handwriting.

Firstly we are learning to hold our pens and pencils correctly.

For handwriting in Room 14 we learn about the ant story.

The ant goes on lots of adventures and meets lots of things along the way.

When we learn about the ant story we learn about writing left to right and all the shapes used for forming letters and where to start writing each shape.

We can now write tall sticks, short sticks, hanging sticks, open mouths, tunnels and cups.

We will use  these shapes to form our letters -

m is a short stick, tunnel, tunnel

a is open mouth, short stick

This is a great visual way to help with our letter formation and shows us where to start  our letters and which way to go - so that they are formed the right way around.

Please ask us to tell you more about the ant story at home.
