Firefighters visit

Today we had a visit from the Firefighters.

They came to our classroom and talked to us about what it was like to be a firefighter and the kinds of things they do in their job.

Then we went outside and had a look at the fire engine.

We talked about the ladders and we counted the hoses  - we counted 20!

Some of us got to touch the equipment and feel how heavy it is.

Then the firefighters came back to the classroom and showed us all the things that they need to wear when they go to fight fires.  There was a lot of clothing and equipment to put on.

The firefighters are coming back to visit us again next week and teach us more about being Firewise.  You might like to talk to your children about your family's evacuation plan at home over the weekend.

We can't wait for the next visit.

  1. How exciting to have a visit from the Tawa Volunteer Fire Brigade Room 14. I wonder if any of you will grow up to be firefighters?
